Transfer 2, Week 6

 (Note : The names of the investigators have been changed )

Looks like I'm the bearer of good news because...this week we had THREE progressing investigators!!!!! 

The first is Marta. We taught her the Restoration with Alessandra and watched the Restoration video together. Marta accepted to read the Book of Mormon AND she accepted a baptismal date for the 18th of April!!!!! The date was crazy, we hadn't talked about it beforehand but when I gave the invite to Marta that date was the first thing that I thought and afterwards Sorella Margheriti told me that she had felt that was the right date too!! Wow!!! We were REALLY happy after that visit. Furthermore, Marta drove herself to church yesterday AND she has read FIFTEEN CHAPTERS of the Book of Mormon since we saw her on Friday!!!! People!!!! This is a golden investigator!!! She just keeps showing signs of being super prepared for us by the Lord. She's been making friends in church and she even shared her thoughts often during Sunday School. We're hoping her good example will inspire Sara (her sister) to look more into the church. :)

Second progressing investigator: Bertina! We went to her house on Wednesday and met her husband, Martino, as well as Martino's sister and her husband. They all live in the same house with Bertina's two kids. We had some good conversations with them about their religious background and they were all very nice to us. We taught Bertina about the Plan of Salvation but focused the lesson on eternal families and how the gospel blesses them. She has been reading the Book of Mormon!! We invited her to read The Family: A Proclamation to the World AND... we invited her to be baptized!!! You know when the Spirit is telling you to do something and you're scared and you procrastinate it and all you do is get anxious in the meantime? Yeah, that was me. When I FINALLY invited her to be baptized I felt so dumb for ignoring the Spirit right in the moment because her response was totally fine and she wasn't upset or mad, she said okay and we don't have a date for her yet but she's willing to work towards baptism! Wow!!!!!! Now we just have to find her a ride to church, which shouldn't be hard. :)

Third: Loredana the Jehovah's Witness! We were praying really REALLY hard for the meeting with her and Pina to go better than it did last week and we were begging Heavenly Father to help us invite (and keep) the Spirit. We met with them in a cafè and right away we sensed that the atmosphere was different! We talked about why we believe the Book of Mormon doesn't go against the apostle John's prophecy in the book of Revelations (it's not even the last book of the Bible in chronological order anyway but they weren't aware of it) and about some prophecies of the Book of Mormon in the Bible. They didn't interpret those prophecies the same way the Church does but at a certain point Loredana said something that BLEW us away. I don't remember exactly what it was (perks of being human... I really wish I did remember because it was GREAT) but she's made progress because she understands that there's meaning to what we believe and she was much more willing to listen to us. Pina still kinda talks way too much and changes the subject when we ask questions that she can't answer (so I'd say she isn't progressing much haha) but Loredana did a GREAT job of telling her to let us talk! Small steps though. We're making it. :)

We have a lesson today with a new potential investigator that we met on the train yesterday so we're hoping for good things! And we were able to do some service this week at the Marataro's house. They have a serious case of thistles and thorns and all sorts of ugly wild plants in their giardino (yard) so we had a LOT of fun hacking down that stuff. The work is good, I love the area, and my companion and I are always getting better at teaching together!

 A quanto pare sono la portatrice di buone notizie perche'....questa settimana abbiamo avuto TRE investigatori in fase di progresso!!!!!

La prima e' Marta. Le abbiamo insegnato la Restaurazione con Alessandra e abbiamo guardato il video della Restaurazione insieme. Marta ha accettato di leggere il Libro di Mormon e ha accettato come data per il battesimo il 18 aprile!!!! La data e' una cosa pazzesca, non ne avevamo parlato prima ma quando ho dato l'invito a Marta quella data era la prima cosa che mi e' venuta in mente e dopo Sorella Margheriti mi ha detto che anche lei aveva sentito che quella era la data giusta! Eravamo DAVVERO felici dopo quell'incontro. Inoltre Marta ha guidato da sola in chiesa ieri e ha letto QUINDICI CAPITOLI del Libro di Mormon da quando l'abbiamo vista venerdi'!!!! Questo e' un investigatore d'oro!!!! Continua a mostrare segni di essere stata preparata dal Signore per noi. Si sta facendo amici in chiesa e ha anche fatto diversi interventi durante la Scuola Domenicale. Speriamo che il suo buon esempio ispirera' Sara ( sua sorella) a investigare di piu' la chiesa. :)

Secondo investigatore in fase di progresso: Bertina! Siamo andate a casa sua mercoledi' e abbiamo incontrato suo marito, Martino e anche la sorella di Martino con suo marito. Vivono tutti nellla stessa casa con i due figli di  Bertina. Abbiamo fatto una buona conversazione con loro sulle loro convinzioni religiose e sono stati tutti molto gentili con noi. Abbiamo insegnato a Bertina il piano di salvezza ma abbiamo messo enfasi sulle famiglie eterne e su come il vangelo le benedice. Sta leggendo il libro di Mormon!! L'abbiamo invitata a leggere La Famiglia: Un Proclama Al Mondo e...l'abbiamo invitata a essere battezzata!!! Sapete di quando lo Spirito vi suggerisce qualcosa e siete impauriti e quindi procastinate e tutto quello che fate e' essere ansiosi nel frattempo? Ebbene, quella ero io. Quando l'ho FINALMENTE invitata ad essere battezzata mi sono sentita cosi' sciocca per aver ignorato lo Spirito perche' la sua risposta era buona e non era irritata o risentita, ha detto " Va bene" e anche se non abbiamo ancora una data per lei ha accettato di impegnarsi per il battesimo. Che bello!!!!! Ora dobbiamo trovarle un passaggio per andare in chiesa, il che non dovrebbe essere difficile. :)

Terzo: Loredana, la Testimone di Geova! Stiamo pregando  davvero DAVVERO tanto perche' il nostro incontro con lei e Pina vada meglio della settimana scorsa e abbiamo supplicato il Padre Celeste di aiutarci  a invitare (e mantenere) lo Spirito. Le abbiamo incontrate in un bar e immediatamente abbiamo sentito che l'atmosfera era diversa! Abbiamo parlato del perche' crediamo che il Libro di Mormon non vada contro la profezia dell'apostolo Giovanni nel libro dell'Apocalisse ( non e' neanche l'ultimo libro della Bibbia in ordine cronologico comunque, ma non lo sapevano) e di alcune profezie del Libro di Mormon nella Bibbia. Non interpretano queste profezie nello stesso modo in cui lo fa la Chiesa ma a un certo punto Loredana ha detto qualcosa che ci ha sbalordito. Non ricordo esattamente cosa ( i benefici di essere umani... magari potessi ricordamerlo perche' e' stato GRANDE) ma ha fatto dei progressi perche' capisce che ha senso quello in cui crediamo ed era piu' disposta ad ascoltarci. Pina parla ancora tanto e cambia argomento quando le facciamo delle domande a cui non sa rispondere (cosi' posso dire che non sta progredendo tanto ahah) ma Loredana ha fatto un BUON lavoro a dirle di farci parlare! Piccoli passi, ma li stiamo facendo. :)

Abbiamo una lezione oggi con un nuovo potenziale investigatore che abbiamo incontrato sul treno ieri cosi' speriamo bene! E abbiamo potuto offrire del servizio questa settimana a casa dei Marataro. Hanno un serio problema con i rovi  e le spine di ogni tipo di piante selvatiche nel loro giardino cosi' ci siamo DIVERTITI a buttare giu' tutta quella roba. Il lavoro e' buono, amo la zona, ed io e la mia collega diventiamo sempre piu' brave ad insegnare insieme!

I gave everybody in Rome 5 nicknames. :D Bellows sounds like bello, meaning handsome, my last name means baptized in Italian, Margheriti is similar to margherita, which means daisy, and Gardenhire... Well, we left it as it was. :o)/Soprannomi che ho dato a noi di Roma 5 . :) Bellows suona come bello, quindi handsome in inglese, Battezzato e' Baptized in inglese, Margheriti e' simile a margherita quindi daisy e Gardenhire lo abbiamo lasciato Garden ( giardino). :o

Our friend Anna Linda owns a pizza place with her brother and it's expensive BUT we stopped by for a taste. Yum!/ La nostra amica Anna Linda gestisce una pizzeria con suo fratello ed e' costosa ma noi ci siamo fermate per un boccone. Gnam!

Went back to doing my language study from the Book of Mormon in German! Slowly but surely... I love it. :)/ Sono tornata a fare lo studio della lingua con il Libro di Mormon in tedesco! Lentamente ma di sicuro... la mia passione. :)
