Transfer 12, Week 3

Note: The names of the investigators have been changed

Words truly cannot summarize this week adequately. I have a lot of news! First off, though, we have three new investigators!

Rossella is a former investigator from about a year and a half ago, very tied to her religion but doesn't go to church. She stopped taking the missionary lessons because she wasn't getting an answer from the Lord about whether everything she was learning was true. We stopped by her house a couple weeks ago and not only did she let us in, we found out she has a son who has been coming to our English Course since I got to Cagliari four months ago!!! And we had no idea. So we did a lesson, and her friend Delia - also a former investigator and our second new investigator of this week - was there as well. And we invited them to be baptized! They said they don't feel the need all that much but we promised them if they would pray and study and do the things we would ask of them, they would receive a definite answer. And they accepted to take the missionary lessons. So now we've done the Restoration, leaving them with an invite to read Moroni 10:3-5 on their own and answer the questions in the back of the Restoration pamphlet. I'm so so excited to teach them! They have a strong faith in Christ. He'll take care of them. :)

Then there's Clara. She was a total surprise! She had called earlier in the day asking about English Course because she had planned to attend for the first time later that night. In the meantime we had a lesson planned with Aurelia right before English Course, to which we

had invited a member. Turns out Clara showed up at the church at 6 PM and so did our member, Eride, so they started talking and became friends and Eride started talking all about her recent baptism and how the Church has changed her life. It was amazing! We got to the church at 6:15 and Clara not only accepted to do a mini lesson with us, Eride came too and we invited Clara to be baptized! We left her a reading assignment in the Book of Mormon and scheduled a return appointment! Clara didn't accept or decline the baptismal invite but she was all smiles and was definitely feeling the Spirit. She had to cancel our return appointment but we're counting on seeing her this week.

So these are our new investigators. :) I hope to have many more great stories to tell about them! There are a few potentials on our list that I'll wait to talk about until we see them again. But they're an awesome bunch, I'll say that much. :)

Sonia finally had surgery to get the rest of her tumor out. And a MIRACLE happened! The tumor seemed pretty bad before the surgery but then when they operated the doctors found out it had gone from malignant to benign and they didn't have to do as serious an operation as they expected! When we visited Sonia in the hospital she was just BEAMING! She wasn't even taking pain medication and she could move around just fine! She attributed her quick recovery and the miraculous outcome of the surgery to the priesthood blessing Anziano Rasband and Anziano Nielsen had given her a month ago, as well as all the prayers on her behalf. She now has a rock-solid testimony of the power of prayer. :) We weren't able to do a lesson, but we did leave her the Joseph Smith pamphlet and she read it all the next day! Her health didn't allow her to attend church yesterday, so we're going to help her set some goals for that this week.

One more miracle moment: one of our less-actives came to church today!!!!!!!!! I don't know how long she's been inactive but last week she attempted coming, only to find the church empty at 9 because of Conference. So she told us this when we called her during this week and then she came for the last two hours today!!! She is determined to come back next Sunday. And the response from the members when they saw her was just breathtaking. I had a mental image of the story of the prodigal son flash through my mind. Everyone was so happy to see her. And she was happy too. :)

This week was positively amazing. And this upcoming week the Sassari sorelle are coming here for a scambio, so we're anticipating and praying for more miracles... The work of the Lord is great! The work is picking up speed here... :)

                              TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

È decisa a tornare domenica prossima.
