Transfer 7, Week 5

Note: The names of the investigators  have been changed

THIS WEEK WAS INSANE BECAUSE I FOUND OUT THAT I. AM. TRAINING. In Ragusa!!!!! And Sorella Reber is going BACK to Rome! To a different ward but she's still going back! She's so excited and so am I! We're both really happy. :) I figured I was going to train here so I'm not really surprised!! I'll find out who the lucky greenie (new missionary) is on Thursday... :) I'll be in Catania waiting for her at the train station with Anziano Bellows and Sorella Flansberg because their companions got changed too so it'll be a welcoming party of sorts. :) Also, Sorella Defranchi and Anziano Saffer are going to Rome 1 with Sorella Reber which is CRAZY. All in the same ward!!! And Sorella Reber will be serving with one of her MTC companions! So hard to believe and so sick. President really shook things up this transfer!

Our new assistant is Anziano Pingree! I think he finishes with me in June. Also Anziano Puff called us on Saturday to try to track down our anziani (their phone hasn't been working too well...) and while he was at it he said his last goodbyes to me and said, "Fai la brava figlia, okay? Be a good daughter!" Hahaha Papa Puff forever. So I guess once he goes home tomorrow I'll be an orphan in the mission but I'll have my own "daughter" soon enough and it's gonna be AWESOME!!!!

Woot. :D I'm kind of terrified but so ready to go. Can't wait to write about it next week!!

We spent a big chunk of this week visiting members and teaching them about missionary work. We knew Sorella Reber was going to leave so we started saying goodbye to people way in advance. Everyone's been accepting the challenge we've been giving them lately and it's already bearing fruit so that's awesome! Next step is teaching all the missionary discussions to the members. Our ward mission leader is helping to coordinate the visits with the anziani. Let's see if this isn't what will renew their missionary spirit!

We are still on a steady new investigator streak. This week we got two more!!! That's a total of nine this transfer! It's a record for me!!! And all of them are so awesome. It would take me years to write about them, it's been such a wild ride. But I'll start with Lorenzo. :)

He's been praying to know if the Book of Mormon is true but hasn't gotten his answer yet. He's still having money problems and has been really frustrated with himself so it's been difficult for him to feel the Spirit. Yet somehow we knew exactly what to say to him and he told us afterwards that he felt much better. :) We love him to death!! Also he said he would try to come to a session of General Conference this weekend, which is fantastic because it's exactly what he needs right now.

We finally saw Giulia and taught her about the Plan of Salvation! She loved it. While we were teaching she said, "You know, while you were talking I felt something. I know that what you're saying is true." IT WAS SO COOL. WE WERE FREAKING OUT INSIDE OUR HEADS. She had felt confirmation from the Spirit right in that moment!!!  I don't think I've ever taught anyone like Giulia. She's one of the most spiritual people I have ever met.

Simone is doing a great job as well. He came to the lesson having read Moroni 7 and we had a really long talk about it!! We read through the chapter together and discussed the principles in it and he was taking his pencil and underlining and starring stuff and was totally into it!!! It made us really happy.

We also taught a lesson to a very sweet 15-year-old girl named Elvira that we met through English Course. We showed her Grazie a Lui (it's a video about Jesus Christ that the Church made, in English " Because of Him" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S3TI4bYerU) and talked about how God loves us as His children and wants us to feel His love. And so we challenged her to go home and pray and ask Him how much He loves her. She felt the Spirit, even though she's not really sure that God exists and isn't sure what she believes. A couple days later we were talking to her on the phone and she told us that she prayed and that it was really special. WOW. We're seeing her again tomorrow and I'm so anxious to know how it went!!!! I may be terrified of ragazzi but Elvira is starting to make me want to teach more of them!

Last but not least... Mario's family! We taught them about the gospel of Jesus Christ by comparing it to the armor of God! We made little puppets out of cardboard and made armor for the kids to stick on them during the lesson. Our ward mission leader came to help us with the lesson and offered a lot of great input. It really helps to have returned missionaries present at lessons. :) He talked to the parents for a long time after the lesson and it seemed to have had a great effect on them! Sorella Reber and I talked to Davide and Francesca, Mario's 12-year-old twins, and told them about the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet and the Gospel Library app. Davide was super interested! We showed him how to use the app and told him about some of the topics in the pamphlet and he was just so intrigued. He also gave some top-notch answers during the lesson... He has the maturity of a thirty-year-old. Legit. Mario had to be at work on Sunday and Tina didn't want to come to church without him so they didn't show up on Sunday but we invited them to come watch Conference so hopefully they'll do that!!

This is our main news from this week. The work is exploding big time... It's the perfect time to be a greenie in Ragusa!

                                             TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

IO. ADDESTRERO'. A Ragusa!!!!! E Sorella Reber RITORNERA' a Roma!
