Transfer 3, Week 1

(Note : The names of the investigators have been changed )

WOOOO new transfer!!! And we started off on a good foot: we taught eight lessons total, four of which were with members!! AWW YEAH! We reached our weekly goals so this is great!

Quick summary of the investigators:

Marta is still reading the Book of Mormon every day and the last time we saw her she was already in Omni! It's really cool because she refers to things that she read during the lessons and it's crazy how much she remembers. She is a really intelligent woman. We taught her the Plan of Salvation this past week and not only did she accept everything as true doctrine, she felt the Spirit so strongly that she started to cry and she thanked us for teaching her the plan! She'd never thought about it from that kind of eternal perspective and I think it gave her a lot of hope. We're going to talk to her about temple work and genealogy soon. I think she'll really love that. :)

Bertina's sister-in-law sat in on the lesson that we did with Bertina last week! She read the scriptures with us and paid attention even though she says she's not super confident with Italian! We started teaching the Plan of Salvation but we stopped when we got to the subject of baptism because Bertina wanted to understand its purpose better. We read 2 Nephi 31 together and she said it helped a lot and that she always feels really good when we come to her house and teach her. :) We're trying to get her to church but she needs to talk to her husband about it first! Hopefully this week she'll come, and hopefully we'll get a baptismal date for her soon!

Our lessons with the Jehovah's Witnesses have been interesting - the last time we were with Loredana and Pina they gave us copies of their little yellow book about the teachings of the Bible and they had us read from it and they asked us questions. We did get to bear testimony of what we know and we felt the Spirit! And get this - at the end we asked them to pray with us and they accepted!!!!!!!!! Pina said a great prayer and it was just awesome!! So much Spirit! Small steps with them. We're still hoping for progress. We're thinking of sitting them down and teaching them the Restoration next time, maybe that will help them open up to the church more.

Alfonso kinda backtracked on Saturday. He wasn't with Matteo but with an older man who luckily didn't utter a single objection while we talked to Alfonso but I think being in front of another member of his congregation made Alfonso a bit more stubborn. He said some pretty weird stuff that we'd never heard before and that didn't sound right so he said he'd study it better for the next lesson. Okay! Haha it was kind of frustrating but hey, we brought Francesco with us and he bore strong testimony so we left things off with a good spirit! Alfonso is still willing to listen more even when he doesn't agree with things. I just wish he'd read from the Book of Mormon!!

Rita still isn't coming to church. She said she will absolutely come next Sunday and that the Lord is turning her "excuses into uses" (that was really funny, we got a good laugh outta that!) so let's see if she'll be true to her word this Sunday! If she doesn't come though I think we're really going to have to stop teaching her since she's not progressing anymore. We'll seee...

Finding is going well! We found an old man named Giulio who met missionaries when he was 20 and a lady named Luisa who was really interested in our message because it was something she'd never heard before. We got three other numbers, a referral from an investigator and a referral from the mission office so we're going to be making a lot of phone calls this week!

I feel like I've been getting much better at teaching lately and I've been making even more of a conscious effort to study effectively and to concentrate more when I teach. It's helping so much!

Side note, I have some goofy pictures with Anziano Romano from our district meeting on Tuesday. Nothing like seeing an old friend on the mission field! :)))

Well, that's all! I love you guys! A dopo :)

                              TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Bene, questo e' tutto, vi voglio bene! A dopo:)
