Transfer 8, Week 6

Note: The names of the investigators and of less active members have been changed

Another UNBELIEVABLE week. But really!!!!

We taught the Restoration to a woman named Corina from our English Course! At her house! When we taught her the First Vision she paused and said, "I believe that actually happened. God still speaks to us."

Our jaws hit the floor. And she totally accepted the copy of the Book of Mormon we left with her! The only weird part was when we asked her when we could come back... She said, "Oh no, not for at least a month. Or maybe eight days. I need some time." It was comical but I couldn't laugh right then and there hahaha

We've started meeting with a Romanian girl named Adriana to teach her English! Her two kids sit in on the lessons as well and they giggle at her while she tries to pronounce the words but it's all very innocent. :) We gave her the Book of Mormon in Romanian and we showed them the video "Because of Him". They loved it! We're going back tonight. :)

We also met with Fabio this week!!! We taught him the Restoration and introduced the Book of Mormon to him. When he picked it up he flipped the pages and smelled the book hahahaha!!!! I don't blame him. Brand-new copies of the Book of Mormon actually smell really nice. Anyway, he was surprised that it was for him to keep. He said he would read it from cover-to-cover! And he wasn't joking... We talked with him on the phone yesterday... He's already read through to JACOB. That's at least 136 pages in two days!!!!!!!! He was asking a lot of questions about Nephi and Lehi and who was this person and what does this mean, etc. etc. We're going to see him again on Tuesday and it's going to be awesome.

We were supposed to teach Pierluigi (our less-active Raffaella's son) English this week but he was out late at work and was tired so she decided to read the Book of Mormon with us instead! So cute! We read from 3 Nephi and she commented on what we read every few verses. :)

We also taught an unexpected lesson to Laura's nonmember brother, Sergio! We were teaching Laura about the role of the Book of Mormon in conversion using Preach My Gospel. While we were teaching Sergio sat in on the lesson and started asking how Joseph Smith became prophet, why we have the Book of Mormon, why we should read the Bible, what our purpose in life is... It was crazy!! They were all such great questions! We left them some chapters to read in the Book of Mormon that we promised him would help him find the answers he was looking for, as long as he was reading them with spiritual eyes and paying attention to the Spirit. I hope it leaves a mark on him. :)

Pina is just fantastic as ever. We taught her the Word of Wisdom and... Not only did she accept to live it and stop drinking coffee... She's never tasted an alcoholic drink in her life! And she doesn't smoke so that's not a problem either! She is so unbelievably awesome.

I have to pinch myself when we're teaching her just to be sure I'm not dreaming. It's just hard for her to get to church at the moment... She will soon!

We tried this thing that we called banana-bread finding in our building... And one of our neighbors let us in! It's a super sweet old couple named Silvana and Antonio! They've been visited by the sorelle in the past. Antonio is about to turn 90 but he kept saying he was turning 100 hahahaha his wife was getting such a kick out of it. He's the cutest old man. He has no teeth so he was glad our banana bread was soft. :) They showed us their wedding pictures and Antonio showed us pictures of him on a motorcycle back in the day when he was a carabiniere!! I love them so much. :)

Last but not least... Andrei. We found him doing some Book of Mormon finding the other day. We showed him the book and talked to him about it and then asked if we could come teach him more... He set up an appointment with us for the next day at the place where we met! And not only was he there the next day.... Turns out he has a wife and two-year-old son!!! They're from Romania so we brought them a Book of Mormon in Romanian as well as a Restoration pamphlet and they said they would start reading right away! We're seeing them once again tonight and we can't wait! It was such a miracle the way we found them. Street finding is not totally useless. And the Book of Mormon is power. :) Andrei and his wife are now our two newest investigators and I am so glad!!!

Long story short, this week was one miracle after another, and such a great finish to this transfer! It's only the beginning of many, many good things to come in Ragusa. I've been saying it since I got here, but this city really is special and we felt for a long time that people were being prepared to receive the message of the restored gospel! I'm so grateful for my mission and for the things I'm learninghere. Love you all :)

                               TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Dio ci parla ancora . "Siamo rimaste a bocca aperta.

Pina e' fantastica come sempre.
