Transfer 3, Week 5

The results are in...

I AM STAYING IN ROME 5 WITH SORELLA MARGHERITI! This will be my FOURTH transfer with my trainer!!!!! Everybody was amazed, that rarely ever happens! We are so stoked!! We could hardly believe the news ourselves! I am so grateful for this opportunity to keep serving with Sorella Margheriti. We're more than companions, we're best friends. And it's really awesome to be able to have that when you're a missionary. :)

I don't have too much to say this week but I'll start with Marta's baptism!! I don't remember if I brought it up earlier but it happened on the 11th, so just a couple days ago! It was an amazing experience. We have felt an incredible amount of support from the members and the other missionaries throughout our journey with her. She has made many friends in Rome 5 and yesterday (Sunday) at her confirmation not only were 79 members present (that's an incredible attendance for our branch!! Only 12 members were missing!!!), but they presented her with flowers and a card and everyone congratulated her and did their best to make her feel welcome! It is so heartwarming to see members reach out to new converts like that. Rome 5 may be a young branch but we can tell the unity there is increasing. Piano piano (slowly) :)

So... I guess we aren't done with Alfonso yet. Or rather, he isn't done with us. When he texted us to set up our usual appointment for Saturday morning we were very clear with him about our purpose and we expressed our concern about the spirit of contention that had been felt in past meetings and he wasn't even fazed by it, he simply said alright, we would see each other and be honest and up front about everything, "senza polemiche" (with no contention)

And what do you know... he brought his wife!!!!! We weren't expecting that at all!! Her name is Moana and it was the first time we'd seen her. She was so sweet and didn't say much, but she listened and was happy to meet us. Alfonso used the Bible to explain what he understands of the Fall and at the end he let us talk and it led to the Book of Mormon. We talked about the importance of the Spirit in bearing testimony of the Book of Mormon being true scripture and we invited Moana to read Moroni's promise out loud. She didn't express any thoughts about it and Alfonso was skeptical about the Spirit being able to do that. BUT... He told us that he had read a bit of the introduction and that he looked up the Fall in the index because he wanted to understand a bit better! Wow! So I guess he did make some progress. I don't know what to expect from this renewed interest in the Book of Mormon but we REALLY hope it takes us somewhere with him and his family... We'll see! Cuz we actually do love them, even though their beliefs clash with ours sometimes. :o)

Today was good, we went to Rome with the dying missionaries (those that are going back home) and I got to see the Colosseum AGAIN (woooo!!!), as well as the Piazza del Popolo and the Vatican. Side note, at the Piazza two girls ran up to us all excited and yelled MISSIONARIES!!!! They're members of the Church, one from Ireland and the other from Sweden. They were really sweet and happy to see us and we took pictures with them! Crazy huh? I love finding members in random places! Or rather, they found us. :)

Last bit of news, we said our goodbyes to Anziano Stamps. He goes home tomorrow (Tuesday). It's really sad for us but we're proud of him for all the work he's done in the last two years and we know he has great things ahead of him! Anziano Matiaco took his place and is already in Rome 5 with us. He was in my group when we got to Rome in December. He's a cool guy! We're stoked to work with him this transfer. :D

Overall, things are going well despite the dip in the work. I am so grateful to be with Sorella Margheriti another transfer!! We weren't expecting it at all but I know there are great things in store. :)

Alright, I'm out. Until next week!

Pazzesco, vero? Mi piace trovare i membri nei posti piu' svariati! O meglio, ci trovano loro. :)

Come ultima notizia, abbiamo salutato Anziano Stamps.

Va bene, devo andare. Fino alla prossima settimana!
