Transfer 13, Week 1

Note: The names of the investigators have been changed

I am happy to report that we have two investigators who have accepted a baptismal date! Their names are Mariano and Carla. I may have told you about them last time. We taught them the Restoration yesterday and when we invited them to be baptized with a date for June 4th they said yes! They even have a seven-year-old son who's turning eight this September. :) Mariano had read all of the introduction to the Book of Mormon since our last lesson and while he summarized what he'd learned Carla asked him questions!!! This was miraculous seeing as how Carla had just expressed a lack of interest in the Book of Mormon. I've never seen an interaction like that between investigators! This just proves the powerful influence the head of the household has on his family! Last time Mariano said the closing prayer and this time Carla said it! Another miracle! I am praying hard for this family. They have so much potential. I can hardly believe all this is happening, but I know it's because the Lord's hand is in this work.

Sonia's surgery got moved up to this past week, which caught her off guard and scared her half to death, but she's recovering well and is emotionally and physically stable. :) We visited her in the hospital and talked to the woman in the bed next to hers. This woman, Concetta, was really nervous for her surgery, but we were able to comfort her and promised to pray for her. Sonia told Concetta that our prayers really work and that we helped her tumor go away completely (Sonia is a missionary and she doesn't even know it haha). :) Concetta's face just lit up, she was so grateful! We're going to go back and visit her tomorrow. We left Sonia with a copy of the Family Proclamation (a document our church published about the sanctity of the family https://www.lds.org/topics/family-proclamation?lang=eng) to read out loud to Concetta. It was a touching moment for all of us!

We haven't been able to see  Dalila and Gloria for a couple weeks, but we called them and they told us that they've been reading the Book of Mormon and keeping track of their questions. :) We hope to see them this week!

One last bit of good news: one of our appointments got canceled last-minute a couple days ago so we were going to go home when we felt impressed to go knocking on doors near the person we were supposed to see. After various refusals we knocked on a door and a young man opened it. When we said we had a message about Jesus Christ for his family he apologized and told us he was about to leave the house. We asked when we could come back and he said the next day and gave us a specific time so that his parents would be home as well! It was a big surprise and we were so excited! We went back yesterday and no one was home, but we felt impressed to leave a note in their mailbox. I'm hoping that will help us see them again. I'll keep y'all updated. :)

I'm a bit surprised by all of this news considering how few lessons we taught this week. My heart is full of gratitude for the Lord's mercy! He picked us up when we felt discouraged and sent a lot of good people our way. This is a testimony that God is at the helm, just like Elder Ballard said in a talk two conferences ago. I'm so grateful to be serving in Cagliari. There are great things happening here and many more to come!

In other news, the anziani have another baptism this week. :) Cagliari is on fire! I'm excited to report back next Monday!

                             TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Torneremo a trovarle domani.
