Transfer 11, Week 4

Note: The names of the investigators and those of the less active members have been changed

Hey family! Man, this week was a wild ride indeed. So much happened!! Sorella Hamilton left for Rome on Saturday and is going home tomorrow. Anziano Molnar (who is now Jerome I suppose, haha) came back from Germany to visit Cagliari this weekend. We had stake conference. Sorella Bicchierri, Sorella Clark, and I are a trio until transfers, which got pushed off another week because of a miscommunication with the MTC. And President pushed off transfer calls because something didn't feel right so we have NO idea what's happening yet and we don't know when transfer calls are coming. Also, we visited a castle today on top of a mountain. It was fantastic. And our water heater broke, which wasn't so great, but Fratello Deplano fixed it right away and the new one is way better than the old one! So yeah. Lots of stuff. But let's get down to business.

We invited Aurelia to be baptized! She's been thinking about it and there are a lot of things she feels she doesn't understand yet, but she's willing to work towards that! She's learning so much!

Sonia got a beautiful, beautiful blessing from the anziani on Wednesday. It was amazing to see how little the anziani knew of her and yet how powerful their counsel for her was in the blessing. The Lord knows exactly what we need! And he told Sonia what he wanted her to know through two 20-year-old boys that didn't even speak her language when they left home less than two years ago. That's what I call a miracle. And the power of the priesthood! I'm so grateful to have seen that. After the anziani left we taught her the Restoration. It really sunk in how important the Book of Mormon is, and Sonia committed to reading it every day! She said she would even bring it to the hospital to read in the waiting room when she goes to do her chemotherapy! I can't wait to follow up with her this week :)

We didn't get a lot of time with Sandra, but we asked her if she would like us fast for her son who's having some problems right now. She said absolutely and that she wanted to know when we would do it so she could join us!! We're going to fast this weekend and she would like to come to church, so I'm praying it all works out!!! We were so amazed at her response!!

We have been calling some old contacts lately and three of them agreed to meet with us again!! We have an appointment with one of them this week! There are still more we haven't called and others who would like to see us but a little farther down the road. I'm super pleased! :)

We went back to Luisa's house just yesterday. She's the new less-active member that we've started working with. She agreed to start reading the Book of Mormon again!!! And she wants to see us again! There was a strong spirit there, just like last time! And Sorella Clark bore a powerful testimony of the church and the prophet. :) It was amazing. And Luisa said an amazing prayer to finish. It was so touching and we were so filled with hope for her and her family long after we left her house!!

We also found out that Luisa sings like Celine Dion. She showed us a video of her singing at a cafe and it was SERIOUSLY SO GOOD. I would love love love to do a musical number with her in church but for now that's not a possibility. Oh well!

So, funny story for y'all. We had some expensive sard cookies that we were going to eat all together on Sunday for lunch but I couldn't find them ANYWHERE. We looked all over the house. Nothing. So I called the zone leaders asking them if maybe we had left them in their car when they gave us a ride home for church, so they said they would check. Except we threatened to do them harm if they dared to eat any of the cookies. :D And as soon as I hung up I saw Sorella Bicchierri come out with the box of cookies in her hands! She had hidden them on purpose!!! Hahahahaha we had such a good laugh! Among many others. Being in a trio with Sorella Clark (for the second time for me!!) has been so fun. :)

Next week I'll be back with the updates on transfer calls. I have no idea what's going to happen in Cagliari, but I am so grateful for each missionary in my district and for everything I've learned from them these last couple transfers. We've had so many laughs and so many spiritual experiences together! This district has really felt like family to me. It will be so sad to see any of them go. But that's the beauty of the mission - you make these strong bonds with people who have the same standards as you and you're all working towards the same goal, to invite others to come unto Christ. Simply because you love them and want to share the blessings of the gospel.

I love this gospel. It's so simple, even a child can understand it. And yet we'll never be able to fully comprehend it, at least not in this life. I'm not perfect right now and I'll never be a perfect missionary, but I'm getting better every day! I love Sorella Bicchierri so much. She isn't just my companion, she's my best friend, and I wouldn't be able to do this work without her! I'm looking forward to this week with Sorella Clark and I'm so grateful for this opportunity to work with her for a short while. It's going to be good.

Can't wait to tell you all about it next week!

Peace out :)

                               TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Abbiamo invitato Aurelia a farsi battezzare!
