Transfer 9, Week 4

Note: The names of the investigators have been changed

Another transfer has come and gone! Well, this one was really short. I feel like I got emergency transferred in the middle of a normal six-week one. A lot happened my last few days in Ragusa because of all the people I said goodbye to, so the pictures will tell the rest. I don't have time to explain it all! But it was a good last couple days.:)

Getting to Cagliari wasn't bad at all, except for the security in Catania taking away my jar of peanut butter because I was dumb and didn't put it in my checked baggage... That was a really sad moment for me. But I'll find more peanut butter elsewhere.

Anziano Scott and I flew to Rome from Catania, then to Cagliari. The flights were so short! Basically a bus ride! Also a really nice man sitting next to me carried my carry-on for me when we got off the plane and Anziano Scott and I made friends with a girl from Oristano (his new city) who studies marine biology so it was a good time for all. When we got to Cagliari and came out of the baggage claim I saw Sorella Clark, Sorella Rossi and Sorella McPheters there waiting for me with signs!!! I ran at them and we had a massive group hug. It was awesome. Happiest day of my life. Woo! From there we raced home to drop off my stuff and went to the church for a lesson with an investigator named Rosanna, followed by English Course. English Course here is HUGE. They have basic, intermediate, and advanced classes and they're all separate because there are so many students!!!!!!

All the missionaries in our zone were there so I got to meet everyone in Sardegna fresh off the plane. How's that for busy! I slept really well that night. I owe it to my brand-new pillow and super soft mattress.

We had our specialized training meeting the next morning (it's a shorter version of zone conference and the assistants don't come). I did my very first training as STL (Sister Training Leader) and I chose to do it on patience. It was exactly ten minutes long, so I was pretty stoked about that hahaha. The zone leaders (Anziano Rasband and Anziano Nielsen) followed with a training about using the Book of Mormon in our work. It was powerful! Sorella Rossi and I put that into play right away and started emphasizing the Book of Mormon with all our investigators.

We saw Luca later that night. He's dating a member, Clara, so he's learning more about the church from us sorelle. We talked to him about the role of the Book of Mormon and explained a bit of the backstory, and then we really really stressed how to gain a testimony of it being true. Luca kept saying he wasn't all that interested in knowing or not and suddenly Sorella Rossi had this awe-inspiring flash of inspiration. She asked Luca what his favorite food was, and he replied pasta with butter. She told him she'd never tasted it and he was shocked. She asked if it was good, he replied of course and she said she didn't believe him. And then he realized what she was getting at and we all had a good laugh! We challenged him to read at least a page of the Book of Mormon for seven consecutive days and he accepted. Not only did he come to church on Sunday - he'd been reading too!!!
Let's see where he's at this Friday. :)

That and another lesson with a teenage girl, Annalisa, were the lessons that stuck out to me the most this week. Annalisa has a crazy story. She went to Idaho last year as an exchange student and just came home this June, but while she was there she lived with a Mormon host family and learned about the church from her friends who were preparing for their missions! She was able to go to several mission call openings and has read the entire Book of Mormon - in English! She prayed about it and was overcome with a wonderful feeling that left her in tears, and from that moment she knew it was true. She's under 18 so she wants to get baptized once she's old enough to do it without having to ask her parents for consent. We talked to her about temples and genealogy. She would like to go to the temple someday. :) Her main problem right now is getting to church. Our meetings are at 9 AM so that's really early for her. Yikes. We'll have to figure that one out.

This morning for P-day we went to the BEACH!!!!!!!!! I hadn't been to the beach since last summer before my mission!!! It was beautiful! I missed the feeling of bare feet in the sand! We had a sand castle competition (the anziani ended up turning theirs into the Colosseum...But as far as aesthetics go us sorelle totally won hahaha) and some of us threw my rugby ball around. It was a good time, and so warm!! It didn't seem like December at all! Also... I found a little dead crab on the shore and took it with me to mail to someone as a joke. So friends back home, beware. Hahahaha

So that's Cagliari so far. I'm sooooo happy to be here and I'm looking forward to seeing the work progress! Until next week :)

                               TRADUZIONE IN ITALIANO

Ho dormito molto bene quella notte.

Abbiamo visto Luca piu' tardi quella stessa sera.

Mannaggia. Dovremo vedere come fare.

Cosi', amici a casa, state attenti. Ahahahah
