Transfer 6, Week 2

Note: The names of the investigators have been changed

This week I would like to focus on an amazing woman... Silvia, our neighbor in the next palazzo (building) over! She is FANTASTIC. I met her at the bus stop last P-day after we went shopping and she was a riot from the start. She's so energetic and friendly to everyone! We invited her to the upcoming Pioneer Day ward activity and she said she would totally come. And she did!! The members absolutely adored her and she did everything possible to help out with cleaning and putting food out and she talked to everybody. And then... She came to SACRAMENT MEETING yesterday!!!!!! She sang the hymns and stayed for the whole time and loved it! She told her neighbors that she had a great time and they were like, WHAT? Hahaha man! And that night we went and visited her at her house and left her a Book of Mormon! As well as some sugar cookies... :) She said she would read a page a day and seemed so, so open to learning more about the Church. She's a gift straight out of heaven. She's not an investigator just yet but we can see so much potential in her. She's had a very, very hard life and lives alone but she has three wonderful sons who adore her and support her in every way. Oh, she's just fantastic.

We also finally met with Rosario this week! We taught him on a bench at the comune (town hall) and he told us some history about Ragusa and the buildings there. He loves history with a passion and he loves reading so he was sharing all this really cool stuff with us that we appreciate very much. :) We talked about prophets with him and introduced him to the Restoration. He had read some of the pamphlet but not a lot because he's the kind of person that likes to study things properly and reflect on them before learning more. We told him we would bring the Book of Mormon next time and he said he would love to read it!! The funny part about that lesson obviously happened after we shared the First Vision... Rosario's first reaction was, "Do you know the exact day Christ was resurrected?" I almost died hahaha we were so surprised... But he's a great guy. He's supposed to see us this week so we're hoping it'll go well!

Other fun things... We had a Pioneer Day activity in church and the ward asked us missionaries to dress up as pioneers! We also were asked to sing "Faith in Every Footstep" (See the rendition by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jH4mOEDu5w ) during the program, which I was super excited about because I sang that two years ago when one of the Apostles came to our stake back home. The zone leaders (Anziano Slade and Anziano Pope) were at the activity too so they sang with us. There were a lot of American dolci (sweets) up for grabs after that... Hahah it was a fun time! I made apple crisp for the first time EVER (I didn't take a picture of it... ugh) and it was good! The members loved it. :) There were some students from English Course that showed up and they had a great time!

Sunday was fantastic because we had some less-active members in church and we set up a few appointments for the week. Love it. :)

The heat is rough here and we're planning on doing some ricerca this week so pray for us... hahaha. But yeah overall things are going well. I'm starting to feel the weight of having been on the mission and I'm a little tired but it's nothing I can't beat. Perseverance builds character.

Alright, until next week!
