Transfer 5, Week 6

 Transfer 5 is officially OVER. Bam. And after this transfer I will be almost halfway through my mission. Whaaaat... But anyway! I am now in the lovely city of Ragusa and... I LOVE IT SO MUCH HERE. I can't even handle it. Coming down here was ridiculous though! Sorella McPheters and I slept at the Rome 2 sisters' house and it wasn't just us... Sorelle Decker, Gates, Fuller, Brunson, Thorpe, Bray, Davieson, Frandsen were there too because of transfers early the next day and it was CRAZY. It was like a giant sleepover. Ten girls don't fit in one Italian apartment. Hahaha it was way too hot in there but we talked and ate together and that was awesome. Unfortunately I couldn't sleep too well and felt like a zombie the next day (I left the apartment at 5:30 am... Nightmare.) so when I got on the train at 7:30 I was half dead. But it was cool because I got to meet all the greenies (new missionaries) that were going down to Sicily too! They were all so sweet. And the trainer pool this transfer is full of GREAT missionaries. I'm so glad. :)

On the train I was with Sorella Flansberg, Anziano Covalt, and Anziano Maxwell for a bit and we talked to the four women in our train compartment about the church. It was SO AWESOME. I'd been awake for just like two hours and we were already doing missionary work. I got a number from one of them for the sisters in Catania. Legit. The rest of the train ride was sucky though. It was late and when we ferried to Messina they literally took FOREVER to get us across. Also the AC hardly worked for the whole ten hours. Oh well. When I got to Catania I was really happy to breathe real air... And then Sorella Reber and I took a bus to Ragusa and I slept really hard that night. Crazy day.

Sorella Reber is fantastic. Really. We've learned a lot about each other already and we're similar in so many ways! And we both want to work hard. That's the best part. :) I could definitely see her being my friend for the rest of my life. Did I mention we're both die-hard gym rats? Morning runs are fun... Hahaha!!! She's this super positive ball of energy and she's one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. I'm super stoked to be here with her!

So yes, Ragusa is amazing. I felt good about coming here from the moment we got transfer calls. There's something really special about it and the people that live here and I can't quite put my finger on it but... I feel extremely blessed to be here now. We had an unforgettable experience with a potential investigator just last night! His name is Rosario. Sorella Reber had only ever seen him once. He asked if we could meet with him so we went down to a passeggiata (walking area) and waited for him on a bench. I had no idea what he looked like or how old he was and while I was looking around at the people walking by, I saw a guy who looked to be about 25 years old. We made eye contact and (this is insane) right at that second I knew that that was him. As soon as I thought that I started doubting myself and to my surprise the guy came over to us... It really was Rosario. That totally blew me away. And the lesson with him went so, so well. We showed Rosario "Because of Him" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S3TI4bYerU ) and we had a long talk about the purpose of this life and Christ's role and what kind of people we should be... It was great! Honestly in some moments I felt like we were talking to a member of the Church. We invited him to pray and ask God how much He loves him. At the end we prayed with him and when we finished the first thing he said was, "Ahhh. Now we all feel better." He totally felt the Spirit! It was so cool. And he asked us when we can meet with him again. I was just dumbfounded. We walked away from that lesson feeling so uplifted. And I am sure there are more people here like him. :)

There is lots of work to be done with the less-actives here and one of them actually gave us a referral... wow. And the members are great even though I can't remember half their names. :D Also, the washing machine here actually works. That is enough to make anyone's day.

Il trasferimento 5 e' ufficialmente FINITO. Bam. E dopo questo trasferimento saro' quasi a meta' della mia missione. Cosaaa......Ma comunque! Mi trovo ora nell'amabile citta' di Ragusa e ... MI PIACE COSI' TANTO QUI. Non posso neanche contenerlo. Venire fin qui giu' e' stato incredibile pero'! Io e Sorella McPheters abbiamo dormito alla casa delle sorelle di Roma 2 e non c'eravamo solo noi.. Sorelle Decker, Gates, Fuller, Brunson, Thorpe, Bray, Davieson, Frandsen stavano anche li' per via dei trasferimenti di primo mattino il giorno dopo ed era PAZZESCO. E' stato come un gigantesco sleepover. Dieci ragazze non entrano in un appartamento italiano. Ahahah, faceva troppo caldo ma abbiamo parlato e mangiato, e' stato bellissimo. Sfortunatamente non ho potuto dormire molto bene e mi sono sentita come una zombie il giorno dopo (ho lasciato l'appartamento alle 5:30 di mattina... Incubo) cosi' quando sono arrivata al treno alle 7:30 ero mezza morta. Ma e' stato forte perche' ho incontrato  tutti i nuovi missionari che stavano anche andando in Sicilia! Erano tutti cosi' dolci. E il gruppo di missionari addestratori di questo trasferimento e' pieno di missionari BRAVI. Sono cosi' contenta. :)

Sul treno sono stata con Sorella Flansberg, Anziano Covalt e Anziano Maxwell per un po' e abbiamo parlato della chiesa alle quattro donne del nostro scompartimento. E' stato GRANDIOSO. Ero sveglia da solo due ore e gia' facevamo lavoro missionario. Ho preso il numero telefonico di una di loro per le sorelle a Catania. Perfetto. Il resto del viaggio e' stato orribile pero'. Il treno era in ritardo e quando siamo arrivati a Messina c'e' voluta letteralmente UNA VITA per attraversare lo stretto. Inoltre l'aria condizionata ha funzionato a stento per tutte le dieci ore del viaggio. E va bene. Quando sono arrivata a Catania sono stata molto contenta di respirare aria vera... E poi Sorella Reber e io abbiamo preso il pullman per Ragusa e ho dormito davvero profondamente quella notte. Che giornata pazzesca.

Sorella Reber e' fantastica. Davvero. Abbiamo gia' imparato molto l'una dall'altra e siamo simili in tante cose! Ed entrambe vogliamo lavorare duro. Questa e' la parte migliore. :) Posso senz'altro vederla come una mia amica per il resto della mia vita. Ho gia' detto che siamo entrambe accanite appassionate di palestre? Le corse di mattina sono divertenti... Aahaha!!! Lei e' una palla concentrata di energia positiva ed e' una delle persone piu' dolci che si potrebbero incontrare. Sono super emozionata di essere qui con lei!

Cosi' si', Ragusa e' incredibile. Mi sono sentita bene all'idea di venire qui dal momento in cui abbiamo avuto le chiamate dei trsferimenti. C'e' qualcosa di veramente speciale qui e nelle persone che ci abitano e anche se non posso ancora dirlo con certezza ma.. mi sento grandemente benedetta  ad essere qui ora. Abbiamo avuto un'esperienza indimenticabile con un potenziale investigatore proprio ieri sera! Si chiama Rosario. Sorella Reber lo aveva visto solo una volta. Aveva chiesto se potevamo incontrarlo cosi' siamo andate lungo la passeggiata e lo abbiamo aspettato su una panchina. Non avevo idea di come sembrasse o di quanti anni avesse e mentre guardavo la gente che passava ho visto un giovane di circa 25 anni. Ci siamo guardati per un attimo e ( questo e' pazzesco) proprio in quell'istante ho sentito che fosse lui. Ho subito cominciato a dubitare di quel pensiero ma con mia sorpresa lui si e' diretto verso di noi... veramente era Rosario.  Questa cosa mi ha letteralmente stupito. E la lezione  con lui e' andata cosi', cosi' bene. Abbiamo mostrato a Rosario "Grazie a Lui" (http://bcove.me/7f6epw0n) e abbiamo fatto una lunga conversazione sullo scopo della vita e sul ruolo di Cristo e su che tipo di persone dovremmo essere... E' stato bello! Onestamente in alcuni momenti mi sembrava di parlare a un membro della chiesa. Lo abbiamo invitato a pregare e a chiedere a Dio quanto lo amasse. Alla fine abbiamo pregato con lui e dopo aver finito la prima cosa che ha detto e' stata, " Ahhh. Ora ci sentiamo tutti meglio." Ha sentito completamente lo Spirito! E' stato forte. E ci ha chiesto quando possiamo rivederlo. Ero davvero interdetta. Siamo andate via da quella lezione sentendoci edificate. E sono sicura che ci siano piu' persone qui come lui. :)

C'e' tanto lavoro da fare con le persone inattive qui e una di loro ci ha proprio dato un riferimento...incredibile. E i membri sono bravi anche se non ricordo i nomi di meta' di loro. :D Inoltre la lavatrice funziona veramente. Questo e' abbastanza per renderci felici.

Spero che stiate tutti bene a casa! Mi mancate tutti ma l'Italia e' il posto in cui stare ora. :)

Transfer 5, Week 5

Results are in! I am going to RAGUSA!!!!!!! (That's in Sicily hahaha). Sorella Reber is going to be my new companion! We got to Italy at the same time so I met her at the villa and saw her around Rome a few times before she got transferred down south! Exciting!!!

Sorella McPheters is getting transferred too though!! Gah! That's called a blowout here. It's when both missionaries in a companionship get sent away and two new ones come in together, and that means we have a LOT of stuff to prepare before we leave Rome 5! Gotta clean the apartment from top to bottom, buy stuff that's missing, leave them directions on how to manage the area... it's crazy. I accept the challenge. :D Anyway, Sorella McPheters is going to Rome 2 so she won't be too far. And then there's me, just casually going to Africa.

Hahaha I'm actually super excited! I miss Sicily and I'm already dreaming about the cannoli and granite and arancini... :D :D Also a couple families in Rome 5 have friends and relatives in Ragusa! They've already been telling me who to go visit, where to go, etc. etc. It's pretty fun. :)

I'm going to miss Rome 5 a lot though. The members have become my family away from home and I've seen our investigators change and progress and I've seen new ones come in and old ones drop us and it's just like WOW I'm actually not spending the rest of my mission here?! Haha but really though, it's been a long time and I am so ready to go. Opportunity awaits. :)

This week was pretty hectic! We had a lot of stuff going on and didn't get to teach as many lessons as we would have liked BUT. We got to teach Diana with Sorella Marataro for the first time! We talked to her about her baptismal invite and she said that if God wants this baptism for her then she will accept it without question. Her main obstacle is getting and recognizing her answer so we talked about the Spirit and the ways that we feel it. It's nothing fancy. We just bore testimony and did our best to help her out. :) We found out that she's going on vacation for all of August so the next sisters might only see her a couple times... Boo. But we're so proud of all the progress she's made! She's even started studying Jesus the Christ and she LOVES IT!!!!! We'll meet with her this week and talk about that. :)

We had a scambio with our STLs this week! It was awesome because we had NO idea what to do until the morning they were supposed to come and we were praying SO hard for the Lord to help us get appointments... Nobody was answering the phone, the people who answered weren't available... And then on the way home from our district meeting we tried again and people answered and they made appointments with us!!! It was literally a miracle. During the scambio I taught Diana with Sorella Marataro and Sorella Cano and Sorella McPheters and Sorella Nagliati taught Sam (a new investigator) and Silvia! Sorella Cano and I also saw Marco. He's a new investigator from Albania who is really interested in the church. At first we thought he was joking but then we realized he actually wanted to know

more. He wants to come to church and he would have this past Sunday but he got called into work. :( Nevertheless he's curious and open! Sam is African and speaks French and a little bit of Italian so teaching him is hard but he's very sweet and wants to know more as well. We're hoping they'll continue to learn and grow in the gospel even though we won't be there to see it.

We had a Fourth of July party at our house on Saturday and made burgers, fries, and piggies in a blanket and ate ice cream with peaches for dessert. So yummy. We also celebrated by speaking in British accents all day long. It has actually carried over a few days and we still find ourselves doing it... Hahaha it's addicting. :)

The pictures I sent home will make up for all the things I don't have time to write about. I hope all of you back home are doing well! Imiss you all but I know I'm in the right place! Buona settimana a tutti. :) (Have a great week!)

I risultati sono arrivati! Vado a RAGUSA!!!!!!!! (E' in Sicilia, ahahah). Sorella Ruber sara' la mia nuova collega! Siamo arrivate in Italia con lo stesso trasferimento cosi' l'ho incontrata alla villa e l'ho vista a Roma alcune volte prima che venisse trasferita al sud! Emozionante!!!

Anche Sorella McPheters verra' trasferita' pero'!!! Questo si chiama "blow-out" da queste parti. Si riferisce a quando entrambi i missionari della stessa coppia vengono trasferiti e due nuovi arrivano insieme, il che significa che abbiamo un MUCCHIO di cose  da preparare prima di lasciare Roma 5! Dobbiamo pulire l'appartamento da cima a fondo, comprare la roba che manca, lasciare a loro istruzioni su come gestire la zona... e' pazzesco. Accetto la sfida. :D. Comunque, Sorella McPheters andra' a Roma 2 cosi' non sara' molto lontana. E poi ci sono io, che sto andando casualmente in Africa. Ahahahah! In realta' sono molto emozionata! Mi manca la Sicilia e gia' sogno i cannoli, le granite e gli arancini... :D :D Inoltre un paio di famiglie di Roma 5 hanno amici e parenti a Ragusa! Mi hanno gia' detto chi andare a visitare, dove andare ecc. ecc.. E' divertente. :)

Mi manchera' Roma 5 MOLTISSIMO. I membri sono diventati la mia famiglia lontano da casa e ho i visto i nostri simpatizzanti cambiare e progredire e ho visto aggiungersi quelli nuovi e quelli vecchi che ci hanno lasciato e mi sembra  pazzesco di non dover finire il resto della mia missione qui! Ahah! Ma davvero, ho trascorso tanto tempo qui e sono pronta ad andare. Le opportunita' mi attendono. :)

La settimana scorsa e' stata parecchio caotica! Abbiamo avuto molto da fare e non abbiamo potuto insegnare tutte le lezioni che volevamo MA abbiamo insegnato a Diana con Sorella Marataro per la prima volta! Le abbiamo parlato dell'invito battesimale e lei ha detto che se Dio vuole questo battesimo per lei allora lei accettera' senza esitazioni. Il suo ostacolo principale e' ricevere e riconoscere la risposta cosi' le abbiamo parlato dello Spirito e di come lo sentiamo. Non e' nulla di elaborato. Le abbiamo semplicemente portato la nostra testimonianza e abbiamo fatto del nostro meglio per aiutarla. :) Abbiamo scoperto che andra' in vacanza tutto il mese di agosto cosi' le prossime sorelle potranno vederla solo un paio di volte.... Boo. Ma siamo molto fiere di tutto il progresso che ha fatto! Ha persino cominciato a studiare Gesu' il Cristo e le PIACE!!!! La incontreremo questa settimana e ne parleremo. :)

Abbiamo fatto uno scambio con le nostre Sister Training Leaders questa settimana! E' stato grandioso perche' non avevamo idea di cosa fare fino al mattino in cui dovevano venire e abbiamo pregato COSI' tanto che il Signore ci aiutasse ad avere degli appuntamenti... Nessuno rispondeva al telefono, le persone che rispondevano non erano disponibili... e poi di ritorno dalla nostra riunione di distretto abbiamo provato di nuovo, ci hanno risposto e abbiamo potuto fare degli appuntamenti!!! E' stato letteralmente un miracolo. Durante lo scambio ho insegnato a Diana con Sorella Marataro e Sorella Cano e Sorella McPheters e Sorella Nagliati hanno insegnato a Sam (un nuovo simpatizzante) e Silvia! Io e Sorella Cano abbiamo anche visto Marco. E' un nuovo simpatizzante dall'Albania che e' molto intereressato alla chiesa. Dapprima pensavamo che stesse scherzando ma poi ci siamo rese conto che davvero ne voleva sapere di piu'. Vuole venire in chiesa e lo avrebbe fatto domenica scorsa ma e' stato chiamato al lavoro. :( Cio' nonostante e' curioso e aperto! Sam e' africano e parla francese e un po' di italiano cosi' insegnare era un po' difficile ma e' molto dolce e vuole comunque saperne di piu'. Speriamo che continueranno a imparare a crescere nel vangelo anche se non saremo li' a vederlo.

Abbiamo fatto una festa per il Quattro di Luglio a casa nostra sabato e abbiamo fatto i burgers, le patate fritte, gli hot dogs avvolti nella pasta sfoglia e abbiamo mangiato il gelato con le pesche come dolce. Cosi' buono! Abbiamo anche celebrato parlando con i vari accenti britannici tutto il giorno. Lo abbiamo fatto anche nei giorni seguenti e ci ritroviamo ancora a farlo ...aahahah e' qualcosa che genera assuefazione. :)

Le foto che ho mandato a casa compenseranno tutte le cose che non ho il tempo di scrivere. Spero che tutti voi a casa stiate bene!!! Mi mancate tutti ma so di essere nel posto giusto! Buona settimana a tutti. :)
